Monday 3-8-2021

We read Ch. 39 (The Opium War) and the first half of Ch. 40 (The Alamo). Good talks about who was the bad guy and who was the good guy, or if there even was a good guy. We talked about how a revolution looks to the rebels and to the government.

They all did Khan for math. Seth was frustrated because he did the course test and didn't get any progress. That's typical when you're at 94%. So he's going to focus on the unit quizzes again instead. Catherine has been melting down almost every day over math. We're going to move her bedtime back again. She's not handling the later time we gave her when she turned 10. Aaron is now doing fractions and division and is doing great.

Seth showed me the Roblox he's working on, which is still out of my league. I told him it would be a good thing for him to get a working game up and running before he applies to the magnet school in the fall. We shall see.

Seth finished up some of his season poems and is starting another story instead. Catherine is writing in her journal in the evenings and Aaron is still working on his email to Elliot.

For reading Seth finished the Prydain Chronicles and is starting Ender's Game. Catherine is reading Pippi Longstocking. Aaron is starting The Bears on Hemlock Mountain.

Seth read Ch. 8 in History of Medicine about Humphrey Davy and painkillers. We're also back to -er verbs in his Spanish book and he's really getting it this time. Both he and Catherine are still doing Duolingo every day, plus Seth is doing typing.

At lunch we watched the first three episodes of Extra History on the Opium War. We also wrote letters to Uncle James (in basic training) for FHE that evening.
