Everyone is just about ready to move on to their next memorizations. Seth memorized the poem "God and the Soldier", Catherine did a scripture from D&C, and Aaron did the 4th Article of Faith. I love that they all get to hear what everyone else is reciting. Basically like freebie memorizing!
We read Ch. 38 out of SOTW, about the Trail of Tears and Nat Turner's revolt. Seth's comment was, "I didn't like this chapter." Considering it was titled 'American Tragedies', I would hope not!
Everyone worked on Khan. Seth did a unit quiz and got up to 93%, all in one shot! He still needs a bit of talking through, but in a lot of cases he gets the answer before I do. Which is awesome! Aaron & Catherine both got to 42%. Division for Catherine, fractions for Aaron.
Seth has been reading Prydain Chronicles, Catherine Pippi Longstocking, and Aaron still Mrs. PiggleWiggle.
For writing, Seth has been writing poems about the seasons. Acrostic for a while, then I had him try one using his senses. Catherine has been writing thank-you notes. Aaron is working on an email to send to Elliot.
At lunch they finished the Extra History on the Zulus, plus watched a Physics Girl about sticking hands in boiling oil. Also a Ted Ed on sugar and your brain.
For FHE we wrote notes to a friend whose cancer is spreading. Learned about mourning with those who mourn. A tough topic, but the kids were more invested in listening and participating than usual.
