Since we finished our Story of Science book, I grabbed Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry. We read the first chapter yesterday and the kids LOVED it. All about how the universe began. Looking forward to the rest.
For math, Seth did more Khan and got up to 78%. He's very pleased with himself. Catherine, Aaron & I played Krypto. Aaron is getting much better, although he likes to figure out Catherine's cards before he does his own, which drives her crazy. I ended up with a hand I couldn't solve, for the first time ever (12, 6, 3, 5, needed to make 12). When not even Jon could do it, they were very intrigued. Catherine also requested a multiplication coloring page and spent probably an hour working on it.
For writing, Seth is working on a persuasive piece to try to convince Catherine to do Roblox Studio. Aaron is still working on his story. Catherine told me she hates her story and hates writing. We discussed it for a while before deciding to give her an Instagram account. She can post her picture and write a little blurb every day. We'll see how long that appeases her.
Seth is still working on reading Half-Blood Prince. Catherine is working on Lightning Thief (although I didn't see her reading it yesterday). Aaron read a book about Eli Whitney and was able to tell me some details about it. Improvement!
Catherine had her piano lesson and, as usual, is doing great. Still working on some rhythm & fingering, but she's so easy to teach. I just have to get out of her way.
Aaron & Seth did Roblox Studio together, plus all 3 kids played Minecraft together again.
We had our poetry time outside since it was actually sunny and decently warm for January. They all chose Shel Silverstein poems. I read them Paul Revere's Ride, which held their attention for much longer than I expected. They all said it was 'creepier' than they expected. Probably the graveyard and ghost imagery.
