Monday 1-11-2021

We read two chapters out of SOTW (30-31). It hit on the revolution in Haiti and the emergence of factories in England. There was much discussion about children working and whether the factories are ultimately a good thing or not. And whether there are places like 1800 London right now. Lots to think about.

It was Seth day, so I got to sit next to him while he did Khan. He quickly blasted through a quiz and got himself to 77% and was done. Catherine did a multiplication game on the iPad and then played Krypto with Aaron & me. Aaron is getting much better, and his new goal is to play a round of Krypto every day.

Seth also showed me his two games he's working on: Bloxy Battles (Roblox) and a Minecraft game for his Deacons quorum. He's very pleased with everything and is super excited for his friends to play. We also worked on the ser verb conjugations in Spanish (still struggling there).

For writing Seth is going to write a persuasive piece about buying a computer. Catherine is still working on her story. Aaron & I had a chat about what is and isn't a story, then got him started on a new piece.

Seth decided to study the History of Medicine next for science. I read the first chapter aloud to him (covered Hippocrates, Galen). I think he's really going to like this one!

Catherine has been totally absorbed in Percy Jackson (finally) and Seth is on the 6th HP book now. Aaron claims to have read, but I don't know what he read. I'll need to check.

At lunch we watched a Physics Girl on why bandaids give off blue light when opened in the dark. Also a couple Mark Rober videos. In the afternoon we also exercised. Some of us did Just Dance, some ran on the elliptical, some did pullups.

Aaron & Seth did some Roblox Studio together, then the kids all played Minecraft together in Seth's world.
