11-9-2020

After several interruptions and changes of location due to Elijah being a monster, we finally made it through two chapters of SOTW (English in India, China's library). We discussed whether India was better under the British, and later looked over a map of modern China vs its territories in the book.

For math, I had Seth try Polyup, a math logic game. He got frustrated and didn't really put much effort into it. Catherine worked on her Khan some more and has figured out the trick about adding/removing 0s when multiplying/dividing by 10. Aaron finally got to play Skyjo with me, Elise & Catherine!

Catherine had her piano lesson, which she loves. She's memorized all her Halloween songs and pulled out Christmas music. She'd already taught herself several songs by the time lessons started. She seems to do better if she's had a chance to try to figure things out herself before I try to teach her. She'll even bring me her piano music with questions during the week occasionally.

During lunch we watched another Science of Stupid. Still not sure how much is sinking in, but they love it. If nothing else, the vocabulary of physics will be there!

For their projects, Seth has been working on his novel, Catherine has been trying to build a MagnaTile tower that will reach the ceiling, and Aaron watched a video on how to make an axe. Seth has also been continuing work on his Roblox game and his friend's game. He'll often be in the office scripting even during his free play time.

For FHE we learned about our ancestors who were veterans and told stories about their time in the armed forces. Each of us are going to pick a veteran we know and write them a letter thanking them for their service.
