11-10-2020

This morning we read two chapters from SOS: Ptolemy and Augustine. We had a good discussion about  whether faith in God means not learning about the world around us.

For math, Aaron & Seth both tried Polyup. Seth seems a bit more inclined to try it now. Aaron mastered some of it easily, but started struggling rather quickly. I need to let Catherine give it a try.  She worked on more Khan.

Aaron watched another weapons video (machine guns this time) for his project. Catherine decided she didn't want to continue with her building project and instead opted for a new one. She wants to learn to whittle, so she bought herself a knife and plans to start with soap carving.

Aaron had his piano lesson. He sure hates getting new songs--he wants to keep working on the same ones forever because they're easy. Unfortunately I did move him forward to a new song, but he'll live! It sure stresses him out, though. He'll clench his hands several times before putting them on the keys. Like it's going to hurt if he puts them on the wrong notes.

During lunch we watched an Extra History about the Harlem Hellfighters. Good thoughts about racism and how far we've come. Then another episode of Science of Stupid because the kids LOVE it.

The Knoxes were out of town, so no poetry time. Instead, we headed to the Giraffe Park to let the kids play. The weather has been gorgeous, so we're spending as much time as possible outside. As part of that, Aaron has decided to try riding his bike again. He's still struggling a bit and gets frustrated easily, but he's improved a lot since spring. He wants his training wheels off. We shall see...

In the evening Timmy showed up. We played Uno Flip and Old Maid together, then Jon, Timmy & Seth played a Starcraft game.
