We read Peter the Great by Diana Stanley and discussed whether he was good or bad, would Russia have modernized anyway? Catherine compared Russia to Fire Nation. Making connections!
For math Catherine worked on Khan. Multiplying and dividing by 10. She was frustrated at first but seemed to catch on pretty quickly. Aaron did a few rounds of MathFactsPro (he cried when it would mark him wrong). Seth worked on his Khan as well.
Seth and Aaron also set up and played one of their fairly complex games with cubes. Lots of wars, battles, dice rolling, etc.
Elise pulled out the fall/Thanksgiving books and I spent some time reading with her, Aaron & Catherine. One book talked about all kinds of fall science, like why leaves change and which animals hibernate.
In the afternoon we went outside to pick some of the chard and tomatoes still growing in our garden. Then the kids were playing on the hill behind our house and we noticed they were harvesting the soybeans in the field across the street. We stayed for a long time watching the huge combine.
Seth had a writing class with Anna, then spent the afternoon with Gabe. They've been working on the bike trail again and have spent a LOT of time hauling dirt around!
