 10-9-20

Today was our fun Friday day. I ended up leading it because the original teacher had a sick child. Jon took Gabe and Seth and had them work on building rockets for a water launcher. I brought a bunch of stuff like microscopes and magnifying glasses and our box of shells/rocks/bones. I gave the kids 30 minutes to go explore, then they had to return and teach us all something they'd discovered. They all seemed to really enjoy it. I even learned about mermaid purses (shark or ray egg sacks). Terri Blanchard was a wealth of knowledge with her marine biology degree!

Kids all had a blast playing with rocks and vines at the park.

When we got home, Aaron insisted that it was his day and wanted piano lessons. I kept him on the same songs for another week.

Elise has been begging for lessons. I finally started her with the first lesson of Wunder Keys. I think she mostly just wants treats, but whatever works!

The kids also started making wizard scrolls, complete with spells written in garbled Greek and runic alphabets.

On Sunday Timmy taught Seth how to index names from census records. Not sure how many he did, but he worked for quite a while!

Monday the kids played Murder in the Dark and Monster in the Dark with Timmy in the basement. They were shrieking like crazy and loved it so much that they have been playing it by themselves ever since. Seth and Catherine also played Smallworld with Jon & Timmy that evening.
