 10-14-20

We drove an hour north to go help out at First Fruits Farm. During the drive we listened to Stella by Starlight. We managed to finish the book on the drive home. We talked about our favorite parts and characters.

At the farm we harvested 8 TONS of pumpkins for families in need. We had to hunt them all down in the fields, then gather them into piles, then load them into containers. Wearing masks was no fun, but the weather was lovely and we had lots of friends there. Even Elijah helped pick up pumpkins to load. Seth actually got to climb into the wagon to help load the pumpkins as we handed them to him. Benefits of looking a lot older than 12.  The kids complained that it was hard and boring, but were in better moods after getting cider and cookies at the end. Definitely something I want to do again in the spring.

We ended up missing KYA, which made them all upset. But they appreciated having some down time in the afternoon. Seth managed to finish up his Tom Sawyer reading before book club. Melissa had them write down their life story (just chapter titles) in a Tom Sawyer fashion. She said Seth had some that made her laugh.

That evening Jon & I did a puzzle with Catherine while listening to a new book we started called Echo.
