 9/18/20

We finished off Girls Who Looked Under Rocks. The last one was Jane Goodall, which made Catherine happy. She also compared one of the women who had grown up in an overprotective, wealthy home to Toph from Avatar.

For our Fun Friday we headed to Friends Park in Jarrettsville. Melissa & Terri prepared a lesson on pond life. They had the kids sort photos of pond life based off where it lived in the bond (bottom, surface, shore, etc.). Then the kids all grabbed buckets and nets and headed to the pond to explore. It was literally FULL of water lilies in various stages. There were blossoms, giant leaves, seed pods, caterpillars, snails, slime, and fish. We brought some samples back to look at under the microscopes. You could actually see little things moving inside what looked like clean water.

We were supposed to have another activity, but decided one is enough. We’ll save it for next time. The kids spent the rest of the day exploring the pond & playing on the playground together.

We listened to Amos Fortune while we were driving. Lots of good discussions on judging people on their appearance.

This weekend Catherine put together her chocolate survey. We bought all the chocolates, bagged them up and created a survey. She has five surveys: Timmy & roommates, us, Knoxes, Uhligs & Kaia. We’ll deliver/mail them ASAP so she can begin data collection.
