In our morning memorization we've been working on learning the words to Recuerdame from Coco. Songs seem to stick better than books.
For our read aloud today we read a bit out of the Royal Diaries Marie Antoinette book. It doesn't seem to keep their attention super well. Too many balls and tedious daily lessons. Maybe we'll stop and pick something else.
For math, Seth allegedly did Khan (but really only did a few minutes. He'll have to make it up on Monday). Catherine did a page out of her Math Inspirations book. I was surprised at how well she's mastered her double-digit subtraction. She struggled last time we tried. Aaron did some Math Bingo.
Aaron also picked to make pancakes for breakfast. He helped measure ingredients, put them in, and mix them. Elise helped too, of course.
They each spent some time researching ancestors for our Dia de Muertos party. Seth learned about Ernest Blood, Catherine learned about Catherine Clawson, Aaron did Bud Carnahan and Elise did Virginia Mikesell. I did Myrle White. They each had to learn a story/cool fact about their ancestor, find a picture, then find out what important world events they lived through. In a few cases we had to text or call people to find out information since it wasn't online. I'm trying to post everything I learned online for others.
Catherine and I pulled out the Halloween piano books and she's been going to town. I love that she'll just find songs to play for fun. I never have to remind her to practice--she does it several times a day just for the joy of it.
Seth had writing class with Anna. They're starting to prepare for NaNoWriMo. His goal is to write 400 words a day.
