 10-5-20

Skipped most of the morning stuff unintentionally. Read two chapters from SOTW (Louis XIV and Frederick the Great). Talked about how they were different and similar.

Elise day. She wanted to get out the fall/Halloween decorations, which took most of the morning. The kids happily decorated the whole house together, especially Seth's room.

All three kids did Puzzledom for math today. I printed Seth's math games off so we can play one tomorrow.

Catherine added to her chocolate survey. Aaron watched a gold video. And Seth is figuring out new functions for his game.

Seth sat down and played piano today. He's pretty rusty. Hoping this will help keep it a little fresh. Catherine has memorized the right hand for Greensleeves.

Elise and I read books together. We also did a section of Khan academy kids on ordinal numbers. Her counting up to 12 is great. She still only recognizes a few letters.

Aaron, Catherine & Elise also experimented with burning things over a candle. Catherine was trying to get paper to float, but even the super lightweight bamboo paper barely floated above the flame. They also burned some yarn, which bubbled, and some hair, which basically disappeared when it hit the flame. Catherine was able to explain why the paper would float above the flame (because the heat goes up).

We talked about setting goals tonight. We explained the importance of long-term and short-term goals. Aaron played Boggle with Jon in the evening.
