Another distracted reading day. I finally made them come inside and sit silently while I finished a chapter of SOTW and a chapter of SOS. We read about fractals in SOS so I showed them a few videos on YouTube. It ended up being a total rabbit hole. We spent most of the morning watching fractal videos. Aaron & Catherine drew their own fractals. Aaron's was a square he kept dividing into 4ths. By the end he had over 1000 tiny squares drawn. We also watched part of a documentary on fractals talking about how they are used in graphics.
Seth day. I wrote down some of his theorems and definitions for math (had to review how to multiply fractions). He showed me part of the game he's designing with Emberse on Roblox. I'm really impressed with what he can do. Scripting, design, adding music… It's more than I could do! We also learned some irregular verbs in Spanish.
We're forcing him to take typing so he'll learn to do it properly. He's not a fan but I think he's seeing the benefits. Also not a fan of piano, but he has to learn 10 hymns before he can quit.
He had a writing class with Anna in the afternoon. She says he gets distracted easily, but is happy to be there. We did our poetry time together (Seth's poem was really cool: This Morning I Pray for My Enemies). Catherine had a watercoloring class with Anna where they did wet on wet painting. Then the kids spent the afternoon playing in the woods. They built a really awesome lean to complete with a fire pit. They were catching minnows to cook when we had to leave.
Catherine and Elise helped me make Aaron's birthday cake, and Seth & Catherine helped decorate.
