We listened to the Greatest Showman soundtrack during breakfast making. There's a song where two men negotiate on pay. Catherine was asking what they were doing so Seth and I explained about bartering and what they were bartering over. Catherine also made pancakes for breakfast. I helped mix the ingredients but she did all the cooking herself.
We read three chapters out of Story of Science. We discussed how science can sometimes be wrong, but that we can learn from our mistakes. We also learned about ether, and retrograde planets.
Today was Seth day. He really struggled with his Khan academy and was in tears. I told him he could finish it tomorrow instead, and we did some number riddles. He struggled with those a bit, probably because he was already frustrated. but Aaron and Catherine were super interested, so I made some for them as well.
Seth did a really good job with his Spanish this week. He also has been doing really well with his definitions and theorems. Anna said during his writing class he did a really excellent warm up about the Titanic.
During lunch we watched some Mystery Doug about poisonous plants. They were especially fascinated by a poisonous tree whose sap will burn you and whose smoke will make you go blind. Also an extra history about Nzinga and a video about how mirrors flip images.
Today was poetry day at the Knoxes. When I said it was time to pick out a poem, Aaron asked if he could write one instead. I said sure, and he whipped out the laptop and typed the title of his poem. I helped type the poem and helped him work out some rhymes. The poem was called "The Headless Dog."
Seth had writing class, Catherine had art class, and then we all had a great time playing in the woods.
