We started by reading aloud from SOS about Archimedes. The kids were very impressed with the story of how he figured out the gold crown wasn't pure gold, and, of course, his war machines.
For math, Seth finished the entirety of Exploding Dots. Catherine did Marble Math and Aaron did a page out of the Everyday Math workbook.
They each picked one ancestor to research for Dia de Muertos, then we made Halloween cookies together.
Seth started learning adjectives in Spanish, which he already knows pretty well. Should be an easy round for him. In his writing class with Anna he learned about literary elements and discussed the difference between poetry and prose.
Catherine had her art class with Anna but hasn't been super interested. Mostly because it interferes with her running off into the woods with the other kids. Need to see what we can do differently. But she did work on another piece of watercolor using only primary colors.
We did our poetry time together, then we all hiked into the woods together. The kids were exploring the 'river' they found. They had named all the areas along the path (Mermaid Falls, Tornado Alley, The Wasteland). They were also collecting samples and drawing a map.
